Vaughn Petterson was born in 1956 in Winthrop, Massachusetts.
He graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Boston with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Italian literature. He worked at
various jobs including the post office and as a teacher. He also lived
and studied in Florence, Italy for several years. During that time he
developed a great interest in Renaissance art and art in general. To
live his passion and experience foreign cultures he has visited many
Petterson wanted to write a novel
using as a basis his passion—classical music— by using what he considers
being the most sublime music ever written, Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia
on a Theme of Thomas Tallis. He believes that he has accomplished his
goal in this book and hopes the readers may feel as he does.
He has spent most of his life in Boston, Massachusetts where he currently resides with his wife, two children and a dog.
